NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests were the number of penalties both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved good to see how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver have the top defender with CB their star corner. They are first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they might position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

New TE Evan Engram has excelled significantly while new running back their rusher is a guy they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love that the coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows how Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable situations.

This has benefited QB the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His strengths are his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to be on the field for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline at times and it seems Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can really develop him how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a championship and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a solid position to be in their division. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win a game.

Ever since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising when you think that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends on what version of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
