Vinted Users Voice Anger Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
