Approximately 55,000 families have reportedly been impacted by the rains, with their possessions and dwellings destroyed.

Intense rains over the recent period have worsened the precarious living conditions of the vast number of uprooted civilians in the region, according to relief organizations.

"Horrendous" Night Poses Serious Dangers

A spokesman detailed the weather overnight as "horrendous", with downpours so intense that as much as 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"These conditions was really horrendous for the families. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the official.

There is grave worry that minors residing in makeshift shelters in damp clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Fatalities and Widespread Damage

Medical officials have stated that one baby has succumbed from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in structural failures triggered by the severe weather.

Other reports put a greater death toll. Authorities said that several residential buildings had fully given way and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 official refuges submerged.
  • Numerous individuals required to move once more.

Relief Efforts Deemed Not Enough

Agencies have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes following the halt in hostilities commenced, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid reaching those in need.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the scale of the needs is so enormous that we still have many thousands of individuals and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship nightly," stated one official.

Long-Term Issues and Ceasefire Provisions

The second phase of the truce includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of personnel, and other terms.

Relief bodies have stressed the need for "greater and continuous aid to respond to pressing and ongoing needs."

The conflict was initiated by an assault in late 2023. Following campaigns have led to a high number of casualties in the territory, based on medical reports.
