American Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in 4 Fatalities

As stated by a high-ranking defense official, the US armed forces carried out a fatal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, resulting in the deaths of four people.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a deadly attack on a craft operated by a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was traveling along a established drug smuggling route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. All four male drug traffickers were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”

Context and Recent Strikes

The statement comes a day after an announcement regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on social media, the US president accused Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to escalate the military presence.

Just on Tuesday, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 individuals, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Justifies Tactics Amid Pressure

The government has faced increasing demands to release video of a September 2nd vessel attack. However, the defense secretary have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a successful operation, arguing it has stopped drugs from entering US shores and has dismissed concerns that it is exceeding the bounds of legal military action.

Although the administration has said the operation is about halting drugs headed to the US, comments from a top official appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical aim. In a recent interview, the senior advisor remarked the president “aims to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a strategy to remove Venezuela's current government.
